Brownie

Katy is very interested in what we are eating. If we are sitting on her playmat eating something, she would crawl to us. She likes the brownie okay, although she seems to like popcorn better.

Frustration

Now Katy is getting more mobile, she gets mad very easily. She gets mad when she wants to do something but can't yet. Being unable to talk, she can't let us know what it is she wants to do, and we all end up being frustrated together.

Straw

Katy doesn't like the sippy cup, so we give her a straw and she is happy. The doc is okay with it too, so we are ready to wean the bottle when time comes. Usually we make fresh fruit smoothie blended with milk (no ice; we don't think she is ready for brain freeze yet); she loves it.

Cleaning

If the vacuum ever breaks down, Katy will come in handy to clean the carpet.

Katy had her 9-month checkup today. Big baby. She is 24 lbs and 30", very big, like six months ahead. She was a brave little girl according to the doc. We told him about her recent clinginess and he suggested we enjoy it because it would end soon. We will be Katy's center of universe until she is almost 2, and then she decides to be her own person. At 3, she will like other kids (I think she is already very much interested in them). And at 6, we are out of the picture as her teachers and friends become her new center of universe. They sure grow fast. Her mom was commenting the other day that the big plus of Katy's baldness is she will stay as a baby as long as she is bald. Actually, her baldness often attracts people's "Aww" and "Ooh," so it is not so bad.

Happy Father's Day

So Katy has been with this new daycare provider for a week. She is a nice lady. However, Katy's mom has the same issue she is always concerned with ever since picking a daycare for Katy. Originally we chose a center because it seems better regulated and we didn't know anybody, plus there is NO TV in a classroom. In the morning, when parents are dropping kids off at the family daycare provider's, we suppose it is easier if you have the TV on while waiting for all the kids to show up. We have visited a couple of family daycare providers and the TV was usually in the center of the room. We are the odd one out there. (In care you are wondering, we have two TVs, a 19" TV in our bedroom and a 13" in a closet.)

Reach

Katy is doing well, we guess. She has been super clingy since she got home. She doesn't like to be left alone in a room. When she sees us walking away, she cries and crawls at the same time. Since she is relatively new at crawling, she mostly lies there waving her arms and legs, crying. This new phase creates a different problem. At night, one of us has to lie next to her to help her sleep. Naturally our bed is big enough for that. Once she falls asleep, we are free to do whatever we want. If we try to move her to her crib, however, her eyes pop wide open and she refuses to stay in her crib. We left her in her crib crying last night. Very sad. She eventually fell sleep but she still remembered to cry every 5 minutes or so. So sad. So we took her to our bed. Sigh.

Time Series 1

. . . and this is how all that hard work looks in action.

Hard Work

Not so easy as it looks crawling across the floor. For some (not so) little babies, it's hard work.

Monkey Around

Katy is a very busy girl. She doesn't stay still in one place; she is always on the move. Her daddy was watching Firefly.

Katy can crawl, albeit slowly. She crawled about six feet last night; we were very happy. Today, not so much. Probably too hot for her to move around.

Spot

Sometimes Katy is like our kitties, she is very much mesmerized by a tiny little black spot. She tried really hard to pick it up.

Upside Down

This is not a clear shot, but it is the best we can get to show how much Katy *loves* to be upside down.

Wave

Katy has mastered the skills of waving. She probably doesn't understand when to wave yet.

Also, according to her grandparents in SoCal, Katy can suck from a straw, albeit slowly!

Crawling Update

She is getting very close. Even Katy knows it. She is so excited and can't fall asleep at night because she wants to practice.

Clap

She can clap hands by keeping one hand still and moving the other. She can't clap with two hands moving toward each other yet.
